The Friends of New York State School Librarians (FoNYSSL) is a newly formed non-profit organization with a clear mission: to champion New York State school librarians by fostering community support and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. Our goal is to foster a sense of community and collaboration among supporters of New York State’s school librarians.

We aim to provide school librarians with opportunities for personal and professional growth by recognizing achievements, sharing best practices, and building partnerships to enhance their impact.

By joining FoNYSSL, you will become part of a network of individuals who are passionate about the crucial role that school librarians play in our education system. Our members will benefit from access to professional development resources, exclusive events and workshops, and networking opportunities tailored to school librarians. Furthermore, we take great pride in building a group that will recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our school librarians, sharing innovative practices, and building strong partnerships that amplify their influence.

Membership is open to ANYONE interested in supporting the school librarian profession in New York State. 

Membership fees are yearly. Donations are also accepted and are tax deductible!

As the only friends organization in New York State exclusively dedicated to supporting school librarians, we believe a 100% focus on their unique needs can make a significant impact on both school librarians and their students. 

Every dollar from memberships and fundraising directly benefits school librarians, ensuring your support makes a real difference.  All of the monies raised through membership and fundraising goes directly back to school librarians in support of the work they do, so you can be sure your dues will support school librarians. We welcome anyone, including active and retired school librarians as well as non-librarians, to join us in our mission. so you can be sure your dues will support school librarians.
