FoNYSSL was founded in 2024 by a group of practicing NYS School Librarians in order to give anyone who supports the work of school librarians in New York State an affordable professional organization dedicated solely to SCHOOL library issues.

Our mission is to champion New York State school librarians by advancing community support and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.

We aim to foster a sense of community and collaboration among supporters of New York State’s school librarians, providing opportunities of personal and professional growth for school librarians by recognizing achievements, sharing best practices, and building partnerships to enhance the impact of school librarians.
